Congratulations to our 2025 Karangalan Scholars

The Karangalan Scholarship Reception held at Animae in San Diego was an unforgettable evening of celebration, culture, and community pride. Set against the elegant backdrop of one of the city’s premier Filipino fusion restaurants, the event honored this year’s Karangalan Scholars—students recognized for their academic excellence, leadership, and deep connection to their Filipino heritage.

Families, educators, and community leaders gathered to uplift and support the scholars, many of whom shared powerful stories of resilience, identity, and purpose. The atmosphere buzzed with emotion as recipients received their awards, often dedicating them to hardworking parents and mentors who paved the way.

Animae, with its modern take on Filipino cuisine and stunning interiors, offered more than just a venue—it embodied the cultural pride at the heart of the evening. From lumpia to ube desserts, the menu reflected the richness and evolution of Filipino-American identity.

The Karangalan Scholarship Reception was more than a ceremony—it was a reminder that honoring our heritage and investing in our youth go hand in hand. As the night came to a close, guests left inspired, hopeful, and reminded of the power of community to nurture the leaders of tomorrow. Truly, a night to remember.

This scholarship is dedicated to uplifting and empowering Filipino American students as they pursue higher education, honoring their hard work, resilience, and commitment to their communities.

Why Your Support Matters

Education is a powerful tool, but financial barriers often stand in the way of deserving students achieving their dreams. The Karangalan Scholarship helps bridge this gap by providing financial assistance to students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a passion for giving back. Every dollar raised goes directly toward funding scholarships that make a real impact on students’ lives.

SUHSD Karangalan Scholarship 2024

In a world where creativity is a powerful force for change and innovation, we believe that every individual possesses a unique set of creative talents waiting to be discovered. This year, our theme is "Unlocking Potential: Celebrating Creativity" which aims to recognize and support students who demonstrate exceptional creative abilities.

Our goal is to raise $5000.00 to honor the academic achievements of our district's Filipino -American seniors by giving at least one scholar from each of the 13 high schools in the Sweetwater Union High School District a scholarship to assist them in their post-secondary journeys.

We count on the generosity of donors toward our mission of ensuring the post-secondary academic success of every Filipino-American senior recipient of this scholarship.
